DTP and graphics products
The Impression range
The Impression family of DTP software comprises two programs
aimed at different levels in the DTP market. There is an easy upgrade path,
so if you are not sure which one will suit your needs you can always go for the
Impression Style and upgrade later if you need to.
- Impression Style is the 'entry level'
program. Despite this, it is still a very advanced word processor and DTP package,
offering enough features to satisfy most home and school users.
- Impression Publisher is aimed at
those wanting to do professional DTP work. It has all the features of
Style, but offers improved control over typography and
colour-correction of images. Publisher also allows you to produce
four colour separations when printing and allows fine control over Postscript
printing options. Graphics can also be placed within irregular frames, and the
text flowed around them.
There is a list of bureaux that can accept
Impression files for printing in the support area of the site.
DTP and word processing utilities
Computer Concepts also sells a number of utilities to help with DTP work:
- Formulix is a tool for typesetting
mathematical equations. Such equations frequently follow their own rules which
cause many traditional DTP programs trouble - with Formulix you can
create the equations and then drop them into the document like any other graphic.
With programs that support the OLE standard, such as the Impression
range, the equations can be directly edited from the files embedded in the
- The RTF & WordPerfect loaders and
savers allow easy conversion between Impression's text format
and RTF and WordPerfect formats.
Computer Concepts sells a number of products based around its award-winning
vector graphics and illustration package ArtWorks:
- ArtWorks is the fastest and most powerful
illustration package available on the Archimedes. It is also easy to use, with
intuitive, interactive tools and an unlimited undo option allowing you to
- The clip art CDs 1 & 2 showcase the sort
of effects that can be achieved by ArtWorks, as they contain
the pick of the entries from the 1993 and 1994 ArtWorks clip-art
competitions. They also contain a number of other useful items, including some
high-quality 24-bit photographs.
- The graphics loaders allow various graphics
file formats to be loaded by ArtWorks and the Impression
range. The formats supported are: JPEG, Photo CD, 24-bit Clear and 8-bit TIFF
(Impression and ArtWorks already support 24-bit TIFF).
